Important information for parents of current year 9 students at NSW schools.

“Stronger HSC Standards reforms announced by the NSW Government require that from 2020, Year 12 students must reach a minimum standard of functional literacy and numeracy for award of the HSC credential.

Students can demonstrate they have met the standard by achieving a pass in new online reading, writing and numeracy tests, first available to students in Year 10 in 2018.

The standard is set at a practical level, mapped against the Australian Core Skills Framework Level 3 – a nationally agreed standard of functional literacy and numeracy…….

From this year, early identification and support for students most at risk of not achieving the minimum standard will be available through the NSW Literacy and Numeracy Strategy 2017-2020.”- Chief Executive Officer NESA (formerly BOSTES)
